I developed a virtual pitch competition for students stuck indoors instead of interning. This idea was spawned out of lost internship prospects, hiring freezes and lay-offs. I decided to take fate into my own hands and help ad students across the country develop a substantial portfolio piece in lieu of an internship. This was supported by hundreds of volunteer industry professionals acting as judges and mentors.
Partnerships: Prize sponsors with Genius/Steals & Mt. Freelance. Agency sponsor with Laundry Service and Big Spaceship. Client partnerships with Color of Change, Twitch and Disney Music Group. I worked with our client executives to co-write the brief assignments, as well.
Communications: Managed and lead all external/internal comms via Slack & email newsletters via Mailchimp. Maintained brand voice across all channels of social media (Instagram & LinkedIn).
Strategy: This is pretty much a start-up, so I did a lot of things for Indoor Recess. The insight for Indoor Recess came out of the glaringly obvious need for ad students to be productive without an internship. I also strategized for our social media pages, which includes LinkedIn (2k+ followers) and Instagram (660+ followers). We mobilized quickly and maintained relevancy for our platform during the calls for social justice reform and ICE’s unfortunate decision to send international students back to their home country.
Public Speaking: I’ve also lead my fair share of Assembly speaking events, which includes moderating and hosting webinars with some really fuckin’ dope people. This includes Shannon Jones, co-founder of verb., Jonathan Javier, founder of Wonsulting, Shelley Pisarra, EVP insights & strategy, Julian Cole, strategy consultant, and our friends from Big Spaceship.
